Rihanna Last Girl on Earth Tour with Ke$ha 08.08.10

 Concert Review:

First and foremost, this concert actually started on time (applause!). Ke$ha came out with paint on her face and some stuff written on her body. I personally was not a fan of the caveman theme she had going on. As an opener, Ke$ha did better than I expected. She sounds the same live and she was doing her thing, beating on the drums and all. She stayed on for about 30min. Then came the LONG WAIT. Rihanna was definitely on some Diva Status because we waited 1.5 HOURS for her to come on after Ke$ha left!!! That was ridiculous. Of course when she came out the crowd went wild. Her band did a great job! I loved the guitar solos. Rihanna also played the drums and the guitar at one point. She did sound the same live. There were some parts where it seemed like she forgot her lines (oops!) but its okay, she played it off well by simply letting the crowd sing instead of her, in some of her other songs. For her first solo tour, she did better than I expected. She danced, kept the talking to a minimum and entertained us with song after song after song. I was not a fan of her red mushroom cut hairstyle, but who cares, her unique outfits made up for what her hair lacked. She gave the fans love by touching their hands (surprisingly there are some artist that don't do that). There was a point in the concert where the stage went dark and no one came out for about 15min. A lot of people thought the concert was over and started leaving. But what do you know, 15mins later, Rihanna came out singing "The wait is over. The wait is over." I would not recommend anyone to do that. She ended the concert with Umbrella. Red confetti and smoke shot out of cannons. The concert was packed despite the downfall she was having in her sales. Based on the performances, the crowd and the venue, I would rate this concert a 4 out of 5.

Concert Review:

It was good to hear some local rappers (M-Dot). Not enough people appreciate non mainstream artists. Bad Rabbits & Young Riot did good as well. Ryan Leslie did his thing! He was singing, playing the piano AND jumping! Although he did not take his shirt off like most R&B artists, he still kept the ladies screaming. He even managed to slip in some positive messages into his performance. When Wiz Khalifa came on stage, all hell broke loose. Not only did the crowd bum rush the stage, there were also people on rooftops! The Boston Police did not seem to be happy during his entire performance, probably because all of his songs were about smoking and getting high. Although Khalifa tripped and rolled across the stage, he managed to keep the crowd going at ALL times. Based on the performances, the annoyance of people in the crowd and the venue, I would rate this concert a 3.5 on a scale of 1-5.

Black Eyed Peas Tour with T-Pain 08.03.10
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Concert Review:

This was by far one of the best concerts I have been to. T-Pain did such a great job. Yes, it is true. He can sing WITHOUT Auto-tune! He also danced a lot which was entertaining. Prior to the concert, I forgot how many hits T-Pain had, but he did a good job bringing them back during this concert. T-Pain was a smart choice for an opener. Now on to the Black Eyed Peas. They came out looking tired and their collective singing was a little shaky at first but they pulled it together. Their music sounds 10x better with a live band. Whether they were singing, or dancing with robots, they ALWAYS kept the crowd going. Their special effects were also on point. Will.I.Am was a DJ for about 20min of the concert. He mixed and mashed some of the latest hits. A disco ball dropped from the ceiling, the special effects turned into full effect, and the Garden turned into a party scene. I felt like I was at a club with 3D glasses on! Each member had their solos where they did their own songs. I'm a fan of Fergie and she definitely killed it, even though some of her dance moves were a little raunchy (tisk tisk). She also broke the news of Shaq coming to the Celtics and told us to "Bring it on B****es!" The concert ended with confetti and smoke. They let Boston know that they were happy to be back in America to perform (Boston was their first show back in the States after being abroad for a while). This concert was for all ages and was sold out. Although I was upset that the Garden charged me $6 for a Vitamin Water, I still thought it was a good choice of venue for this concert. Overall, I would rate this show a 5 out of 5!
